Travelling Overseas?


To ensure your security and peace-of-mind while you are travelling overseas, please use the following guidelines and tips.

Do I need to tell Police Credit I am travelling overseas?

Yes, before you leave it is advisable you contact Police Credit with details of your travel plans. This information will assist Police Credit when monitoring member’s accounts for any potential fraud. It can also determine whether or not restrictions are placed on member cards for security reasons to protect them from any potential fraud.

The information required includes:

 What country/countries you will be visiting and when

 Your contact details while you are away (You may also choose to nominate a power of attorney or other person to act as your representative or point of account in Australia)\

 If you will be using your Visa card or making any large external or BPAY transfers whilst overseas

What else should I consider before I leave?


Convenience: Update your contact details or add another member to your account who will be contactable while you are away

Don’t forget: Check that the expiry date on your card does not expire during the time you are overseas. If so, organise for someone to collect your mail, or alternatively you may order a new card before you leave.  Please ensure you allow at least 10 working days prior to departure if you require a new card and PIN.

Security: Accessing pc.easynet Online Banking at places such as Internet cafes, airports or other public places overseas can be risky. Make sure nobody is watching as you log on to pc.easynet Online Banking, and always clear your computer’s history before you leave.

ATMs: Some overseas ATMs provide your cash and then request you to answer NO to another transaction before giving you back your card, so remember to take your card from the ATM after completing your transaction.


 

Lost or Stolen Card?

If you believe your card or PIN record has been lost/stolen or compromised in any way or believe it is known by someone else, you should IMMEDIATELY report this.

If the loss, theft or misuse occurs outside Australia, you must notify Visa International Hotline collect call 14105 817 931 from anywhere in the world

 You must also then confirm the loss, theft or misuse of the card with Police Credit by telephone during business hours +613 9268 9288 or by priority paid mail as soon as possible.

 When overseas if you require an emergency card or cash contact the Visa International Hotline -

 Visa International will organise a convenient location for you to collect an emergency card or cash

 Emergency cards or cash are issued within 48 hours

The cost of an emergency card or emergency cash is $175.00 USD. If you wish to utilise this emergency service, you will need to advise Visa International at the time of stopping your card.

The emergency card does not get issued with a  PIN and can only be used as credit, or via cash advance through a bank displaying the Visa symbol (Banks may charge a fee for this service).

To make International deposits to Police Credit, you will need the following:

 International BSB: 034 829

 Account Number: Member Number (do not add S type)

 Lodgement Reference: Member Surname & 034 829

 Bank Name: WESTPAC

 Beneficiary Name: Police Credit

 Swift Code: WPACAU2S (if required)

 Bank Address: 260 Queens Street, Brisbane, QLD 4000



Travelex

A telegraphic transfer allows you to transfer funds to an overseas bank account. Account holders and authorised signatories can organise to have a telegraphic transfer sent overseas through Police Credit, Travelex, by contacting us on 13 63 73 and selecting Option #3, we will provide you with an exchange rate.
